How do I set up a Cisco SPA303 IP phone?

In order to configure a Cisco SPA303 IP phone, you will first need to determine what the IP address for the phone is, so that you can access it from a web browser. You can do this in one of two ways.

  • You can use the buttons on the phone to access your IP address by following these steps:

From the Home view, Select Settings > Network and use the arrow keys to navigate to your phone’s IP address.

  • You can use networking scanning utilities that will scan your network and list all the devices and their IP’s available for you to use. There are two network scanners that we recommend depending on whether you are Windows or Mac OS. Both are free.

Once you have determined your IP Address, open a new browser window and place this IP into your browser and you will get the Cisco SPA303 configuration utility.

Your default login for this (if needed) will be the username of ‘admin’ and the password of ‘admin’ (without quotation marks). You can either select the basic or admin interface but in this case, we are using the basic option in the top right. Navigate to Voice > EXT 1. In this case, we are using ‘Extension 1’ (or Ext 1 as seen in the picture) as an example and then you will get the page below appear:

On your yay.com account, navigate to ‘My Dashboard’ > My VoIP> Users. You will find your SIP username and SIP password. The domain will always be talk.yay.com. Just enter the details according to the picture above and you will be good to go! Also as seen in the picture, make sure your codecs are also set to the picture to ensure you receive our crystal clear call quality!

NOTE: While the Auth ID field does NOT need to be filled in - but if you do want to, it'll be your SIP User ID - to configure the Cisco, if you do enter it, make sure you change the 'Use Auth ID' request box to 'YES'
