How do I configure a Polycom VVX 400 business media IP phone?

In order to configure a Polycom VVX 400, you will first need to determine what the IP address for the phone is, so that you can access it from a web browser. You can do this in one of two ways:

  • You can use the buttons on the phone to access your IP address by following these steps:

From Home view, Select Settings > Status > Platform > Phone, and use the arrow keys to navigate to your phone’s IP address.

  • You can use networking scanning utilities that will scan your network and list all the devices and their IP’s available for you to use. There are two network scanners that we recommend depending on whether you are Windows or Mac OS. Both are free.

Once you have determined your IP Address, open a new browser window and place this IP into your browser and you will get the Polycom configuration utility in your browser.

  • Your default login for this (if needed) will be the username of ‘admin’ and the password of ‘admin’ (without the quotation marks).

  • You can either select the basic or admin interface but in this case we are using the basic option.

  • Once there, navigate to Settings > Lines > Line 1.

Note: While the picture say Polycom VVX300, the Polycom VVX400 sets up exactly the same way!
