How do I send or receive a fax message?

Sending a Fax

Before you start, your email address must be authorised to send faxes from your account.

Authorise your email address.

Once your email address is listed as authorised, simply create a PDF with the fax you would like to send and then email it to [phonenumber] as an attachment.

You can put anything in the subject or body of the message, only the PDF will be sent to the number you specify.

For example, if you wished to send a fax to 0208 111 3333 you would simply email, attaching the contents of your fax as a PDF.

To send a fax internationally, you would use the same format as above with the country dial code in front of the international number; the same format you would call that number from on your phone.

For example, if you wished to send a fax to a United States number, 1-888-452-1500 in this example, you would enter attaching the contents of your fax as a PDF.

Please note: there is a 5p+VAT/page cost for sending faxes through your Yay account, so you will need to have at least 5p in your call credit. To top up your call credit, please go to Top Up.

Your sent faxes will be visible within your account


Receiving a Fax

To receive a fax you need to create a new call route with the “Receive Fax” module in it.

To create a call route head here and click “Add Call Route”.

Now add the “Receive Fax” module to this call route as the only module. You will note this module asks you to input one or multiple email addresses. These will be the email addresses that will receive any incoming faxes as a PDF attachment.

Now you have a call route setup you simply need to attach that to a phone number, telling your phone numbers which one of them should be receiving faxes.

To do this, go to the numbers tab, choose the edit icon next to the number of your choice, and change the “Call Routing” to use the call route you just created above.

Your received faxes will be visible within your account.
